Pandya Kingdom
:''This article is about the Pandya Kingdom as described in the Indian epic of the Mahabharata. For the historical kingdom and dynasty, see Pandyan Dynasty.
The Pandyas were fierce warriors who took part in the Kurukshetra War as per the epic Mahabharata. A Pandya king named Darshak, is mentioned as participating in the Kurukshetra War, siding with the Pandavas. It is not clear if Pandyas were linked to the Pandavas of North India. This kingdom existed in the southern part of modern-day Tamil Nadu state of India, to the south of Kaveri River till Kanyakumari . Their capital was Madurai on the banks of the Vaigai River.
Pandyas, Cheras and Cholas were also mentioned in Tamil literature (See Pandyas) complementing their mention in the Sanskrit literature.
